San Diego Market Research
Dated San Diego STRO license counts by tier and community planning area, alongside the City’s separately dated tier availability.
October 2026
An inventory of 8,422 licenses across four tiers and 50 named community planning areas, with City tier availability dated October 9.
San Diego’s short-term residential occupancy (STRO) licenses span part-time rentals, home sharing, and two whole-home tiers. Our monthly reports count the licenses in the City’s published active inventory and show how they are distributed across community planning areas.
The City’s tier availability table is a separate observation, with its own date. It may describe a different point in time from the license inventory. Each report keeps those dates visible and preserves its selected observations.
Recovered inventories extend the archive to May 2023, with additional observations in January and July 2025 and May 2026. Annual reviews state their limited coverage; missing months are not estimated. Licensed inventory does not establish bookings, occupancy, revenue, or actual rental activity.
