La Quinta Market Research
La Quinta’s dated short-term vacation rental permit inventory, with active and suspended counts across the City’s reporting areas.
October 2026
La Quinta’s selected October observation, counting active and currently suspended STVR permits by the City’s reporting areas.
Our monthly reports select one verified observation from the City’s weekly register of active and currently suspended short-term vacation rental (STVR) permits. Each unique permit number counts once, including multi-unit lock-off permits. Pending applications and records classified as Bed & Breakfast are excluded.
The breakdown follows the City’s Business Area field: North La Quinta, South La Quinta, Cove, Mid La Quinta and Exempt. Exempt is a publisher reporting bucket related to exemptions from the ban on new permits, so these classifications mix geographic labels and exemption status. They are not neighborhood boundaries or a measure of rental density. Development is a separate field and is not added to area totals.
The complete-register archive begins in October 2024, with gaps between recovered months. Each report shows its actual source date; weekly inventories are never summed or averaged, and a mid-month observation does not stand for month-end. Reviews of 2025 and 2026 compare only their recovered observations. Permit inventory does not establish bookings, occupancy, revenue or investment returns.
The City also publishes quarterly area and development summaries. Explore the historical coverage and City summaries back to January 2021. Those figures describe a separate date and population measure; they do not fill gaps in the monthly archive or establish current permit capacity.
Year in review
Annual reviews compare the recovered snapshots for each year. Coverage is stated in each report: some years support monthly trends, while others permit only a year-end comparison. Missing fields and months remain unavailable.
Five recovered observations compare La Quinta’s active and suspended STVR permits from January 14 through October 21, 2026, with incomplete monthly coverage.
