La Quinta STVR Permit Inventory — October 2026
La Quinta’s selected October observation, counting active and currently suspended STVR permits by the City’s reporting areas.
The October observation
This report counts the City’s active and currently suspended STVR permits by unique permit number. The status table distinguishes active permits from suspended permits, including a declared suspended category when its count is zero.
The source register also contains pending applications and active Bed & Breakfast records. These records are excluded: pending applications are not active or suspended permits, and the City’s STVR permit definition covers General, Primary Residence and Homeshare permits. The included population reconciles exactly to the City’s dated STVR headline. Bedroom-count, mitigated and multi-unit lock-off variants of these STVR types remain included, with one count per permit number.
The reporting-area table preserves the City’s Exempt bucket alongside its geographic labels. Exempt identifies a publisher classification related to exemptions from the ban on new permits; it does not establish that a particular property can receive a permit. Development totals are not combined with these reporting-area counts.
Separately dated quarterly context
The City’s first-quarter summary reports 1,227 active STVR permits as of March 31, 2026, covering January through March. Its development table groups permits into reporting areas on that date. The document does not supply a verified weekly register for March, and its publication date is not stated in the downloaded report. We retain this as separately dated context, without treating it as a monthly inventory, current capacity, or a comparable change from October. The quarterly report’s parcel denominators and older area classifications are not applied to this observation.
The inventory is dated October 21, 2026 and was retrieved on October 26, 2026. This is a point-in-time observation, not a month-end total.
Baseline snapshot. No comparable immediately preceding monthly observation is loaded, so no month-over-month change is reported.

Permits by permit status
Each permit is counted once. Shares describe the mix in this observation.
| Permit status | Permits | Share |
|---|---|---|
| ActiveIncluded STVR permits marked Active by the publisher; expiration dates do not override that status. | 1,200 | 100.0% |
| SuspendedIncluded STVR permits marked Suspended by the publisher; these remain in the register but are currently suspended. | 0 | 0.0% |
| Total published inventory | 1,200 | 100% |
Shares are rounded independently and are not applicable to an empty inventory. Descriptions are retained with this dated observation. A declared permit status with no records has a known count of zero.
Separate publisher observation
Published availability by permit status
Availability is unavailable for this report: no separate capacity observation was selected.
Zero means no remaining permits in that dated availability observation. Unlimited and unavailable are distinct states. These figures do not establish availability within a reporting area.

Permits by reporting area
The City’s Business Area field mixes four geographic labels with an Exempt reporting bucket related to exemptions from the ban on new permits. These are publisher classifications, not neighborhood boundaries, density measures or area-level permit availability. Development is a separate dimension. Counts are sorted from largest to smallest; horizontal scrolling reveals every permit status on smaller screens.
| Reporting area | Total | Active | Suspended |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exempt | 559 | 559 | 0 |
| South La Quinta | 256 | 256 | 0 |
| Cove | 205 | 205 | 0 |
| North La Quinta | 95 | 95 | 0 |
| Mid La Quinta | 85 | 85 | 0 |
| Total, including unknown / unassigned | 1,200 | 1,200 | 0 |
Unknown / unassigned preserves permits without a usable area. Area labels follow the publisher’s inventory; they are not an independently verified geographic directory. Zero in a permit status column means no records in that cell of the complete inventory; it does not describe availability.
How to read this
Published inventory, with clear limits
Population counted: All unique General, Primary Residence and Homeshare STVR permits listed as active or currently suspended in the City’s complete weekly register. Pending applications and Bed & Breakfast records are excluded; each permit number counts once, including multi-unit lock-off permits.
Counts measure the stated inventory, not bookings, occupancy, revenue, or actual rental activity. Missing geographic assignments remain included in totals.
0 expired-looking records are retained in this observation. These records have an expiration date earlier than the observation date. That date alone does not resolve renewal or administrative status.
Availability is an independent publisher observation. These counts establish neither an area cap nor availability for an individual property.
